Hey history nerds! This one’s for you!
John Mercer built the Mercer Warehouse in 1911 to handle his growing liquor and cigar trade as well as a cold storage facility for The Calgary Brewing company.
In 1922 a fire destroyed the top 2 floors (hence our “burn it down” branding).
John Mercer had to pivot.
He decided to build it to 3 stories, instead of the original 4, and add loading bays to the north wall (our current garage doors). In the 1930s a matching 3 story annex was added to the southside which today houses many of our friends like , , , and much more!

Exciting things to come for the Tavern space in October. We have 2 more nights left before we get kicked out, so come on down!
