Non-stop rain has flooded part of Edmonton’s Yellowhead Trail. Westbound lanes are closed from 97 Street to 124 Street. The city also closed 97 Street to Yellowhead westbound and 121 Street northbound to Yellowhead westbound. Drive safe out there. 🌧️🚗

Elections Alberta is hiring more than 60,000 paid election officers for the October 19 referendum. Recruitment opens June 8. Pay is expected to be $18–$28/hour. You must be 16+ (some roles require 18), eligible to work in Canada, and pass a criminal record check. Apply at elections.ab.ca/jobs. 🗳️

When they were four and five-year-olds they wanted to learn skateboarding, Ariane Latade and Doran Walker noticed there weren’t many options. So they created their own club. VelociRippers meets every Saturday at skateparks around Edmonton. $20 a session. And yes, it’s rad. 🛹

Four people, including two young girls, ages 5 and 6 died in a two-vehicle crash on O’Chiese Road in central Alberta on Friday. Two men from Rocky Mountain House, ages 74 and 51, were also killed. Three others remain in hospital. RCMP are investigating.

Ward Dene Councillor Aaron Paquette is introducing a motion to explore how Edmonton could remain part of Canada, even if the province separates. He points to federal properties in Edmonton (military assets, etc.) as a basis to become a Canadian territory.

The political scientist’s verdict? “If you’re arguing Alberta can leave Canada, can you then make that same case that other parts of Alberta can leave Alberta? If not, why not?”
