YEG Food Deals was born out of my love of food and trying all of the fantastic restaurants Edmonton has to offer. If you share the same passion for dining out as I do, you know that it can get expensive very quickly. In an effort to push my hard earned dollars a little further, I've constantly made note of which establishments offer happy hour or nightly deals. It just made sense to go where I cou

Happy New Year and Happy Friday!! 🎉

We popped into the Ellerslie last week just in time to catch their daily brunch (more places need to offer it every day, in our opinion). This scrumptious Fried Chicken Benny really hit the spot. The meat was freshly made, crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside, and the bacon tomato jam, as well as the roasted poblano & white cheddar sauce really took it up a notch. Plus, just look at those runny poached eggs!! 👩🏻‍🍳😘

Anyway, while we were there, we noticed their Free Appy promo pictured in the second photo. Starting today, it will be offered every Friday from 3-6pm through January at all three locations (Jasper Ave & St. Albert are the other two). Simply purchase any beverage, including those on the Happy Hour menu, and you'll receive your choice of the listed appy options on the house! You've got 5 Fridays this month to take full advantage. 😊

The last image shows their regular Happy Hour drink and food menu for reference.

Last week, we were given the opportunity to check out the 39 cent Wednesday Wing promo . It runs from 3-6pm that night each week until the end of September, and it's only applicable towards regular wings.

They have 50 different flavours ranging from dry rubs to sauce tossed to dips. They're also listed from the least to most spicy, so you have an idea of what you're getting yourself into. We tried the Kentucky Bourbon and Mango Chipotle, both towards the bottom of the scale, but neither was particularly hot on the palate. We'd say both were pleasant.

Personally, we prefer the dry rubs because the skin stays crispier as you're eating. Fried, non-battered wings are the best, in our opinion, and that's exactly what you'll find here. Lemon Pepper was a favourite for us. If you like saucy wings, we can also vouch for the Korean BBQ and Coconut Curry.

While we were there, we also sampled a couple of other dishes including The Pint Mac & Cheese (made with crispy bacon and jalapeno) and Steak Sandwich (prepared as requested, though missing the arugula). They were both well made and tasty additions to our meal.

The drink specials are decent with $5 sleeves of on tap among other options! And, if you arrive too late to take advantage of 39 cent wings, they're still 50% off, including the boneless kind, the rest of the night.

Thanks again to The Pint Whyte Ave team for having us in!

We're a bit behind with this post, but a couple of weeks ago, we were to try out the new Friday rib night menu .

For $10, a savings of 50% compared to their regular menu any other time, you get a half rack! The ribs were good, though not necessarily the most tender or fall off the bone. They were also a bit fattier than expected on the bottom, but considering the price and portions, we had no complaints. The rub applied isn't overly flavourful; however, that was okay because this is where their BBQ sauces shined. Both the strawberry chipotle and the new Korean option are recommended by us. There won't be a lick of either left when you're done your meal.

Sides are extra, between $3-4 each, but they are sizeable, so it's still a great value overall. Everything we tried was tasty. Yet, our faves had to be the potato salad and mac & cheese. The corn bread muffin is always a good alternative dessert, if you're so inclined. The watermelon salad was just added for the summer. We didn't mind it, but we suggested they toss in a bit of feta to give it some extra dimension.

Their cocktail menu is arguably their specialty. We believe that all come with a standard 2 oz., though they might be apt to pour a little more at times. If you go now, we implore you to taste test their key lime pie cocktail. It was spectacular. Make sure to get a bit of pie crust with each sip; it's truly a dessert in a glass. Of course, we couldn't leave without an actual dessert though. Those came in the form of beignets heavily dusted in powdered sugar and served with a decadent creamy bourbon toffee sauce. 🤤

We have to thank them for inviting us out to enjoy such a wonderful date night (as parents of a little one now, we don't get these nearly as often as we used to). Their hospitality was so appreciated!
