We honour the sacrifice of a man who dedicated his life to protecting others.

As a police officer and a Muslim, he embodied a value cherished in our faith: safeguarding human life. Allah says, “Whoever saves a life, it is as if he has saved all of mankind.” (Qur’an 5:32)

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and colleagues, and pray for peace and safety everywhere.

Understanding begins with education, and we invite those who do not know us to learn about our faith and our community before passing judgment or allowing misinformation to fuel fear and hatred.

The 4th chapter of the Qur’an, Surah An Nisāʾ (The Women), highlights the rights, protections, and dignity afforded to women in Islam, principles established more than 1,400 years ago.

While people are not perfect, Islam’s teachings are. We reject the misconception that Islam does not protect or value women. Women are the backbone of our homes, our institutions, and our communities. They are educators, leaders, professionals, caregivers, and changemakers whose contributions shape and strengthen society every day.

Our women do not need liberation from their faith. They deserve freedom from misinformation, prejudice, and hate.
