First day back in Edmonton yesterday.

Right after landing from a 4.5-hour flight, we headed straight to our first stop, a 30-unit building with a signed offer to purchase.

And when I say we, it's because one of our investors from Ikigai Impact joined me on this trip. A great way to experience the field together, to feel the DNA of a project beyond spreadsheets.

Just a month ago, I was here as an explorer.

Now?

I’m almost playing tour guide.
And honestly, Edmonton is growing on me. It’s a dynamic, human city in full evolution, full of long-term potential for those who know how to look past the short term.

After checking into the hotel and grabbing a quick lunch, we toured a pocket-listed 70+ unit building. Result? We did the analysis and submitted an offer on the spot.

The day ended on Whyte Avenue, a vibrant, buzzing neighborhood, over dinner and deep conversations about real estate, philosophy, and the bigger picture of life.

Because yes, we build buildings. But we’re also building meaning. Building bridges. Building communities. And a long-term vision.

I read somewhere that Winston Churchill said, “Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.”

In the real estate world, that statement makes perfect sense when you find yourself dealing with interest rate mayhem, delayed building sites, and rules that can change at the last minute.

You may plan all you want, crunch the numbers, meet with bankers, secure your financing; but reality hits you right in the face as soon as a single detail goes wrong and your schedule collapses like a house of cards.

The most important thing is to never let these failures extinguish your passion.

You get back up, you learn, you adjust your strategies, and, above all, you keep that spark that compelled you to embark on this journey.

Real estate is concrete, it’s raw, it doesn’t forgive; but when you persist in looking beyond the setbacks, in gleaning lessons from every obstacle, that’s when you come closer to the true definition of success.

It is unlike boxing, more like MMA - the champion is not undefeated, he is battle-worn and strengthened by his scar tissue.
