Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community. It commemorates the month in which the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
From dawn to sunset, Muslims fast (sawm), abstaining from food, drink, smoking, and other physical needs as an act of worship and self-discipline. The fast is broken at sunset with iftar, often beginning with dates and water, followed by a full meal. The pre-dawn meal is called suhoor.
During Ramadan, Muslims engage in increased prayers (salah), Quran recitation, charity (zakat), and self-reflection. Special nightly prayers, called Taraweeh, are performed at mosques.
The month concludes with Eid al-Fitr, a joyous celebration marked by communal prayers, feasting, and acts of charity.
To those who celebrate, wishing you a month of peace and blessings.
