We're updating our rules that guide the oil and gas industry to operate safely and protect our environment. This includes steps to reduce the risk of seismic events caused by fluid disposal.
We're revising Directive 065 to identify and manage ways to lower the chance and strength of these events. We have opened the revised Directive for public comment. Please see Bulletin 2024-18 for details: https://bit.ly/3WhD55E

The AER is responsible for the safe, efficient, orderly, and environmentally responsible development of energy resources throughout their life cycle. This regulatory oversight now includes the development of rock-hosted mineral resources.
