We come from all over the Edmonton area to our weekly rehearsals way over in the west end. It seems like most of us take the Callingwood/62 Avenue exit off the Henday to get there - Exit 16, so that's where the name comes from. We're six folks for whom middle-aged now seems like a distant memory, united by a spirit of camaraderie, and a love for music we grew up listening to. Bruce and Brian are t
he "originals" and have been playing together for nearly a decade. Bruce (guitar) is retired from materials management in the Oil industry and his house is our rehearsal spot. Bruce is our "chief cat herder," and our den mother, organizing and setting the pace for everyone. He sees his Bass as the backbone of the band, the glue that holds the wandering tendencies of the others together. When the beat gets going, he often seems oblivious to anyone else playing. Todd's the drummer. Why he puts up with the rest of us is anyone's guess. Like we said - he's the drummer, and who knows why drummers do anything? But he did come up with the name Exit 16, and he's actually a pretty good drummer. Jim (Keyboards, vocals) is a retired broker from the insurance industry. He was part of the group a few years ago but had to leave for awhile. Now he's back and taken over lead vocals, and we are happy to have him again! Maxine (vocals) is next . She comes to us with an 'a ca****la' musical background. This is her first foray in Rock vocals and she adds new dimension to our sound. Joe (lead guitar) is our newest member. Joe is a retired construction project manager who Bruce lured (dragged) out of retirement. This man's super power is the ability to quickly figure out any song thrown at him. We are thrilled that Joe has dusted off his guitar and joined the mighty Exit 16 crew.
