I was glad to be part of our annual Uttaranchal event held here in Edmonton. One of the highlights was the Nanda Devi Procession/ Yatra (some initial pictures show that). Nanda Devi is a symbol of Goddess Parvati. According to a legend, the yatra signifies an emotional moment when Nanda Devi leaves her home in Nauti village to meet her consort Lord Shiva in the Himalayas.
Other festivities included local cultural dances and lot of door prizes (kudos to the organizers).
