Glazing day…my LEAST favourite part of pottery.
When I create the items I always think “oh, x glaze will look great on this piece” and of course totally can’t remember what I had in mind and completely blank out once the pieces come out of the bisque kiln.
Glaze has gotten so expensive that I try to keep to single glazes or max 2 or 3 glaze layer combos. However, every glaze I put on requires as least 2 coats, in most cases 3, and all layers have to fully dry in between, so this is very time consuming.
In this load I have to glaze:
70 mugs
13 tumblers
10 nests
14 gnomes
4 ramen bowls
3 butter dishes
9 scrubby holders
1 cream and sugar set
And reglaze 1 oil bottle
Wish me luck! I may never emerge from my studio again 😅😰🫪🥵
