We all love the outdoors this time of year, but you need to remain vigilant about Lyme Disease.
If you've spent time outside and are experiencing fatigue, joint or muscle pain, a target rash, or swollen lymph nodes after a tick bite, here's what you should know:
Not all cases present with a visible rash. In fact, only 70% of Lyme Disease cases show a rash at all. So don't assume you're in the clear just because you don't see one. Contact your healthcare provider immediately if you suspect exposure.
Early treatment with antibiotics is crucial. The sooner you get tested and treated, the better your chances of recovery. Untreated cases can develop into more serious complications months later, including arthritis, nerve pain, and heart problems.
The key takeaway: don't ignore symptoms after a tick bite. Seek testing and treatment right away.
If you need professional testing, Quest+Medi offers Lyme Disease testing.
