We are THRILLED to have Alex join Delta First. Alex, Tammy, Jat and Melissa are excited to meet members of the North Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen communities. We want to hear your concerns and hopes for Delta and put them into practice, not just talk about it.
Help our grassroots team gain momentum by sharing, dming us and chatting with your friends about the need for change in Delta.
A Commitment to Delta and Those Who Call It Home
Dear friends and neighbours,
Thank you to so many of you who have been incredibly supportive in these early days. Your words of encouragement mean a great deal to me, and they strengthen my resolve every day.
As my conversations continue, I feel grateful for the opportunity to learn more from so many of our fellow Deltans. Whether it is at community events, meetings, coffee chats, or conversations at the door, one thing has become clear: there are many areas where Delta can do better.
There has been a lot of talk about experience. I know the experience I have had, and I know the experience many residents have had over the last four years. Now, I want to speak clearly about the kind of experience I hope to bring to Delta: one that challenges the old way of doing things and brings forward a more open, imaginative, and community-driven approach to local government.
You can expect:
1. A renewed and fresh approach to attracting business and investment into Delta.
2. A serious review of Delta’s needs across all communities, done with meaningful resident input, so we can better identify, prioritize, and deliver the capital projects and community support each area needs most.
3. The reintroduction and improvement of community advisory committees, so residents are empowered to speak for their communities and help shape the projects and decisions that affect them.
4. A commitment to restoring trust in City Hall by introducing better tools for transparency, record keeping, accountability, and conduct, while making it easier for residents to understand and participate in local decision-making.
5. A commitment to always standing on the side of Deltans when dealing with Victoria, Metro Vancouver, and the federal government.
6. A commitment to protecting our natural environment, parks, and green spaces as a foundational pillar in local decision-making.
There will be much more to come. And if you would like to discuss any of these commitments, or any other issues facing Delta, our first public event will be at the Sundance Pub this Saturday. Tickets are almost sold out, but I believe there may still be a few available. You might even find a good deal at the silent auction.
I look forward to working with you for a better Delta,
Alex

Vote Oct 17th Delta First BC
As Canadians, one of our greatest democratic rights is the ability to vote for the people we believe are best suited to represent our communities.
At Delta First, we are not career politicians backed by massive budgets or political machines. We are experienced professionals, local residents, parents, volunteers, and neighbours who want to bring real-world experience to the Council table.
You may not recognize all of our names yet, but we invite you to get to know us.
We are building this campaign the grassroots way by knocking on doors, listening to residents, and having real conversations in the communities we love and call home.
We’re currently looking for volunteers to join our door knocking team. Volunteers will be paired with one of our four candidates to help meet residents, hear concerns, and spread the word organically throughout Delta.
There is real value in volunteering during a local election. You get to know the candidates personally, connect with your community, and help shape important conversations about Delta’s future.
If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to have you with us.
DM us, or visit deltafirst.ca to sign up. Our amazing volunteer coordinator will be in touch.
We need your support Delta! We are here to listen and make a positive, collaborative change, and we can’t do it alone!
Donate, volunteering, scream it from the rooftops!

Delta First is truly a grassroots movement. We’re not backed by big machines or big budgets, we’re powered by neighbours talking to neighbours about the future of Delta.
Over the past few weeks, our team has started door knocking, attending community events, and hosting living room chats in neighbourhoods across Delta because we believe real conversations create real change.
But grassroots campaigns only grow when people help spread the word.
A new party is in town, and we’re just getting started.

Delta Optimist North Delta Reporter Melissa Granum for Mayor Tammy Hansen for Delta Council Jat Puri - Delta City Council Candidate Alex Fischer for Delta Council
The October election will become a real conversation about leadership style and the future direction of our community.
Delta needs a fresh start and a more collaborative, community-focused approach at City Hall. The last few years have felt increasingly divisive and it’s why I’m running for Mayor - I believe many residents are ready for leadership that brings people together instead of creating more conflict.
Based on my years of governance experience in challenging and intense environments, I am someone residents across Delta can trust to lead with professionalism, stability and respect.
This election could be an important turning point for Delta.
It’s time to put Delta First.
If you are ready for a change, please help us spread the word about Delta First, Melissa Granum for Mayor, Tammy Hansen for Delta Council, Jat Puri - Delta City Council Candidate and Alex Fischer for Delta Council by liking, commenting and sharing this post.
What a day at the 130th May Days Parade!
The Delta First team, Melissa GRANUM, Tammy HANSEN, Jat PURI, and Alex Fischer had a great time walking the parade route, chatting with residents, and celebrating everything that makes Delta such a special community. We hope you saw us out there and said hello!
If you’d like to continue the conversation, join us at our upcoming Delta First fundraiser:

Delta taxpayers - this affects you. The North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant cost rose from $700M to $3.86B. Delta homeowners saw utility bills jump approx. $250 this year, and this will continue for 30 years. We need transparency and answers now. Share if you want accountability before October.
