In the tradition of the Ohen:ton Karihwateh:kwen (The Words That Come Before All Else), the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne's Environment Program strives to better understand, protect, maintain, and enhance the natural environment of Akwesasne.

Did you know that you can recycle styrofoam? This includes the foam in meat packaging!
Meat trays can be recycled as of January 2026!

Be sure to have it empty and free from food residue. Remove both the film wrap and absorbent pads, and throw the foam tray into the recycling! ♻️

LEARN TO FISH AKWESASNE 🎣
The MCA Environment Program is inviting all Akwesasró:non to participate in Learn to Fish Akwesasne — a free, two-day hands-on learning experience for individuals and families interested in fishing, environmental stewardship, and traditional knowledge!

Dates: July 8–9, 2026
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: 1020 River Road (Riverfront), Tsi Snaihne, Quebec

Participants will learn about:
🎣 Shoreline fishing techniques
🪝 Lure-making and knot tying
🐟 Fish filleting and smoking demonstrations
🌿 Fish species identification with a Kanien'kehá:ka educator
➕ ...and more!

Lunch will be provided each day and prizes are available for participants!
