1. VERIFY THE LISTER 🔎 Ensure the property is listed by a reputable property manager, realtor, or authentic FB profile. Look up their contact information on their official website and confirm it matches the one provided in the listing.

2. BEWARE OF TOO-GOOD-TO-BE-TRUE DEALS ❌ If the rental price seems significantly lower than the market average, it could be a scam. Trust your instincts and do some research to see if the price aligns with similar rentals in the area.

3. NEVER SEND MONEY IN ADVANCE 💸 Legitimate rentals will not ask you to send money before you've seen the property or to submit an application. Avoid anyone who requests upfront payment.

4. VISIT THE PROPERTY IN PERSON 🏠 Always schedule a visit to the property before making any commitments. Scammers often make excuses for not being able to show you the property, so insist on an in-person tour.

5. AVOID VERBAL LEASE AGREEMENTS 💬 There are standard lease templates that should be used so there is no reason to rely on verbal lease agreements. This is to protect both parties.
