Most people do. But a will only controls what happens after probate — it doesn't protect assets held jointly, in registered accounts, or in a trust. If your estate has any complexity, a will alone might leave your family with more work than you planned.
We can walk you through what you actually need.

🇨🇦 Happy Canada Day from our family to yours!
A temporary layoff can sound less serious than being terminated, but in B.C. it has specific legal meaning.
Here’s what to know:
➡️ Your work and pay may be paused, but there is usually an expectation that you will return
➡️ A temporary layoff generally cannot last more than 13 weeks in a 20-week period
➡️ It may only be allowed if your contract permits it, you agree to it, or it is normal in your industry
➡️ If it goes beyond the allowed period, it may become a termination
➡️ You do not have to sign something immediately just because your employer asks
If you have been temporarily laid off and are unsure where you stand, contact us for employment law advice.
