ng homelessness is to help them find a safe roof over their head. This could be the Barbara Weider House or to help connect them with other housing service organizations in our community. The first priority is they need to be safe and inside for the night. In addition, we offer access to counselling and social and life skills programs to help our youth successfully rebuild their lives and transition to independent living and adulthood. They are provided with a range of support programs that will help them learn life skills, have positive relationships with peers and adults, and re-engage with school, employment training, and/or employment. The Barbara Weider House bridges the critical gap between emergency shelter and independent living for youth aged 16-24. Our services address the needs of youth in crisis and provide the support to help them master the tasks of adolescence as well as focus on their education and employment possibilities. The pandemic has non-profit organizations cancelling fundraising events and scrambling for new ways to raise funds... and we are no different. Our revenue shortfalls has our fundraising committee working hard to find new and creative ways to engage our community and to ignite people’s interest in supporting our youth.
