Sometimes teaching an old dog new tricks just takes a lot of time and some patient instruction.

How to Use Affinity for Sewing Patterns Learn to use Affinity to make sewing pattern alterations and project sewing patterns

Slowly inching my way towards entering the exciting new world of projector sewing. So excited! The Magcubic HY300Max is mounted. I have an HDMI cable connecting it to my laptop. We'll clean up the cords when I'm sure I have everything the way I want it. I have downloaded the Pattern Projector app and am fumbling through learning what I'm doing. There's a bit of a learning curve, but I'm committed now.

Out with the old, in with the new. I'm embarking on an exciting new aspect to an older hobby. In a couple of weeks I should be all set up to start Projector Sewing. That is using a projector to cast sewing pattern files onto the fabric rather than pinning a paper pattern onto the fabric first. Wish me luck! I understand it can be quite the learning curve.
When I first learnt to sew you purchased tissue paper patterns from the big sewing companies, Simplicity, Vogue, Butterick and Burda, but those companies are going out of business. Online independent designers have taken over and for years you only had a couple of options. You could either print your pattern at home using dozens of pieces of computer paper, having to trim the edges of each sheet and then tape them all together before cutting the pieces out pinning to your fabric and then finally cutting your fabric. Or you could send the PDF printing file out, at considerable cost, to a printing company capable of printing large paper sizes -- and then either cut up that valuable main copy, or trace out your pieces before ever using the pattern.
Now the era of Projector Sewing has arrived. Actually it's been around for several years now. I looked into it myself about 5 years ago, determined at that time that I didn't have the available space for a permanent set up, and dropped the idea. Now, with a folding cutting table for my tiny sewing room, I can look into it again.
