(2/2) Last week we discussed how some people report gaining negative side-effects to ma*****na use over time, however, we don’t know yet what causes this change. One solution, as we mentioned last week, was to avoid overconsumption. One strategy is to micro-dose. Micro-dosing consists of consuming small doses of ma*****na (around 2-3mg) as needed throughout the day. Others suggest that exploring various profiles and strains of THC could be effective. For instance, terpenes work together in different ways to provide varying effects. Additionally, it’s usually higher levels of THC that tend to result in this shift of effect. Thus, it could be a matter of finding a ma*****na profile that interacts better with their biology. Some individuals have done their own research into what solves the problem for them. This tends to involve keeping track of how you feel when taking different products, trying different strains, or using different modes of consumption. If ma*****na has been working for you, but seems to have taken a negative turn, it may be worth it to do some experimentation with how you take it. As always, it’s best to consult with your physician first before making significant changes.

Have you heard of CBDA? It’s actually the state that CBD exists in prior to decarboxylation where CBD is heated and prepared for consumption, activating the h**p compounds. Traditionally, cannabinoids contain an extra carboxyl ring or group (COOH) on their chemical chain. For h**p to have the effect that we know it to have today, it has to be heated and decarboxylated. However, new research suggests that CBDA may have benefits of its own. For instance, CBDA inhibits COX-2, just like Advil or Tylenol. This suggests that CBDA may actually be a better pain reliever than CBD. In addition, animal studies have demonstrated that CBDA may be more effective at minimizing nausea. This new research suggests that depending on what you are looking to use CBD for, CBDA may actually be a better alternative.
