A 2021 transformation 🤍💫
Meet Sheri. Her story is beyond inspiring and I’m incredibly grateful that she chose me to be a part of such a special chapter.
When she first contacted me, I wasn’t sure what I was in for.
Brides will often describe to me how they feel in their dress and then they try to explain what work needs to be done.
As a seamstress, it’s hard to interpret but it’s my intention to help them feel at ease because it’s usually a very emotional experience.
Sheri played it very cool and basically told me, she had lost a bunch of weight and needed the dress taken in.
If I’m completely honest, I was terrified about this project. I’ve done several reconstructions, I actually like to think I specialize in them. But, this was a complete overhaul and it tested my inner confidence on many occasions.
This dress was a size 22 and by the time we were done, it was likely a 14/16. I believe the total inches reduced came to about 15 all the way around. You could argue that she was better off buying a new dress, but this one was her dress and it was important to her.
This experience was more then practicing and learning a few technical skills. It reminded me of why I started doing this and it gave me the confidence to move forward with my business.
I am so capable and I’m also a natural…I started sewing when I was 13 (25 years ago-what?!). I was self taught until high school where one of my teachers encouraged me in “fashion class”.
This inspired me to take design and production management in college. I was unusually motivated and skilled, I even made it to a competition in Montreal, my third year.
It is my belief that this magic 🪄 of mine stems from a past life, if not several.
Sheri was a pleasure to work with! Please join me in celebrating her wedding day and healing journey.
I hope you enjoy theses photos… slides 5 & 6 are amazing before and afters 💖

Strapless dress, nearly 3 sizes too big transformed into a delicate sleeve, a deeper neckline and overall perfect fit. She bought her dress postpartum and then started working out, needles to say alterations were an understatement. My first time adding custom sleeves! Luckily she needed about 4 inches off then hem, although the pattern still required some creativity to support the fabric with lack of a proper grain. I loved this challenge! .scharman was amazing to work with ✨ congratulations 🍾🥂💍
