Are You Using Your Electric Toothbrush Correctly?

An electric toothbrush does most of the work for you — technique matters more than pressure! Here’s how to get the best clean:

1. Use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste
No need to overload the brush.

2. Place the brush at a 45° angle
Aim the bristles where your teeth meet your gums.

3. Let the brush do the work
Guide it slowly from tooth to tooth — avoid scrubbing back and forth like a manual toothbrush.

4. Divide your mouth into sections
Spend about 30 seconds per section (upper right, upper left, lower right, lower left) for a full 2-minute brush.

5. Don’t forget every surface
Brush the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces of each tooth.

6. Be gentle
Too much pressure can irritate gums and wear enamel. Many electric toothbrushes even have pressure sensors!

7. Replace your brush head regularly
Change it every 3 months (or sooner if bristles are frayed).
