I was pleased to attend the 2026 APEGA Summit Awards Gala earlier this week in Edmonton along with my colleagues Min. Myles McDougall and Min. Martin Long.

The Summit Awards recognize professional engineers and geoscientists for their exceptional achievements. Congratulations to all the 2026 award recipients.

Recently, Councillor Councillor Andrew Yule, the City Councillor for Ward 3 in Calgary, and I sat down to discuss our priorities in the communities we share. We focused on strengthening collaboration and identifying opportunities where our efforts align. Mayor Jeromy "Pathfinder" Farkas took time out of his busy day to stop by to say hello as well.

I was delighted to present a cheque to the NE Centre of Community Society (Genesis Centre) for a $125,000 Community Facility Enhancement Program grant.

This investment, supported through Arts, Culture and Status of Women, reflects Alberta’s continued commitment to spaces that bring people together and strengthen our communities.

Special thanks to Executive Director Sherry King and Business Development Manager Jonah Ardiel, along with their entire team, for their ongoing dedication and service.

It was such a pleasure to join Premier Smith in the Premier’s Summit on Fairness for Newcomers in Edmonton yesterday.

Great to hear directly from newcomers, settlement organizations and community members from across Alberta.

Alberta has a strong history of welcoming newcomers who help grow our economy and build strong communities.
