Welcome back and Happy New Year! We will be meeting at the Calgary Marlborough community association located at 636 Marlborough Way NE. We will be committing three days to learn basic techniques in pottery.

An excellent opportunity

We are looking for a contractor to help with our programing! Is it you?

Administrative Assistant / Facilitator
Temporary Contract (with potential for extension in 2023)

Meeting My Ancestors offers Metis arts and culture programs online and in
person for Indigenous individuals who are reconnecting with their culture and
traditions. Programs focus largely on adult education in both single, a la carte classes,
and full year programs with many classes and cultural components combined.

The successful contractor will support the delivery of programs in the following ways;

Supporting participants to set up their accounts through which they access their classes
Answering questions about programs (start dates, schedule, materials needed,...)
Scheduling lessons for programs in the online classroom
Helping facilitate program circles on Zoom
Fulfilling orders from website sales
Other tasks necessary for effective delivery of programs

Assets include;
Some understanding of or comfort with sharing words in Michif or Cree (fluency is not needed but valued)
Public speaking and presentation skills
Knowledge of Metis history and culture
Residence in Alberta and/or Edmonton region
Participation in traditional ceremonies
Patient supportive attitude for working with participants
Knowledge of or basic skills in beading, sewing, and other Metis arts

Requirements;
Consistent and reliable internet access
And appropriate space for participation in Zoom meetings
Proximity and access to a post office
Fluency in English for daily communications
Member of Metis, Cree or Ojibwe nation (Zoom meetings are specifically for Indigenous individuals who are building a relationship with their culture)
Working collaboratively under the direction of MMA staff
Must be able to submit an invoice for services rendered

Work details;
Work will primarily take place online.
Work will amount to 20 hours per week.
Start date is asap (once a successful contractor is found).
Remuneration based on experience and ability to meet requirements and assets.
