Pierre Poilievre is blaming Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government for Canada’s economic struggles, repeatedly pointing to the country’s recession during a fiery media scrum.

Speaking outside a cabinet meeting, the Conservative leader argued that Canada is the only G7 nation currently in a recession despite facing the same global challenges and U.S. trade pressures as other countries. Poilievre said nations like the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Mexico have avoided recession, insisting Canada’s economic downturn is the result of Liberal policies rather than U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs and trade actions.

A three-year-old child is fighting for their life after a powerful storm sent an inflatable play structure airborne during a community event in Montreal.

Emergency crews responded to Ouellette Park in LaSalle on Sunday after strong winds lifted a bouncy castle into the air, injuring multiple people. Eleven people were assessed at the scene and six were taken to hospital, including two children. One three-year-old remains in critical condition. Witnesses described tables, chairs and the inflatable structure being swept up by sudden severe winds before bystanders rushed to help the children trapped inside.
