Calgary Ski Club’s Lake Louise Loppet Timing and Medals
Calgary Ski Club chief timer, working with Zone 4 remote staff have created continuous timing verification. How this works is shortly after you cross the finish line our chief timer will confirm if you are in the medals, and whether you are 1st, 2nd or 3rd in your age group. There is no waiting for results.
You will be handed off to the medal area, where volunteers will present you with your gold, silver or bronze medal. We have sourced wood and acrylic medals from a Calgary manufacturer with a unique design front and back.
Prizes, if you won one, will be in your registration package, along with your bib and timing chip.
If you didn’t place in the top 3 of your category, Zone 4 will be publishing your results a few hours after the race.
Calgary Ski Club’s Lake Louise Loppet is now open for registration. It is a classic ski race held on the beautiful slopes surrounding frozen Lake Louise on March 2, 2025. It will include our traditional individual races, and this year we are introducing a fun event for Teams of 2 racers, who could be Women’s Open, Mixed Open, Men’s Open and Veterans 100+ that will be held on our 13 km route. Check our race poster out for which individual distance will challenge yourself, or sign up with a friend.

Another great bit of urban wildlife trivia, thanks to our friends at the Miistakis Institute ...
Urbanization of native species: what is it, and why does it matter?
DYK: Different animals are more adapted, comfortable and tolerant of human presence and pressures?
This means a skunk can (and will) live among humans, while a cougar or bear will do almost anything to avoid us. (No shade to them, we all need our space.)
The amount of wildlife activity we see in Calgary changes based on where you are; for instance, natural landscapes at the city's edge may have more activity than areas with more dense development.
We've got three categories we've put animals in:
🐻 Avoiders are dependent on natural area connections. (Elk, Bears, Cougars)
🦌 Utilizers live and breed in urban areas but need links to natural areas. (Moose and deer)
🦨 Dwellers live in the city with or without natural areas. (Bobcats (aka Robertcats), Skunks, and Coyotes.)
Knowing how wildlife interacts (or doesn't) with us and our human infrastructure helps us plan, manage and steward our natural spaces-- keeping our urban wildlife healthy, reducing conflicts and enabling Calgarians to coexist with our animal residents -- because this is their home too. 🥰
