This slope wasn’t a backyard.
It was a problem nobody wanted to solve.
Too steep to use. Too tight to ignore.
So we didn’t fight the grade. We split it.
A curved wall holds back the hill. A lower patio takes shape below, and a level lawn will sit above — spaces that didn’t exist a week ago.
Right now it’s wheelbarrows and base prep. But you can already see it coming together.
When this one’s finished, it’s a showstopper.
Most people see a hill and call it a loss.
We see a backyard waiting to be built.

We build patios, walls, and outdoor spaces people love to live in.
But a great yard does more than look good.
It feeds something.
A pollinator border. A small pond. Native plants that actually belong here — and a little water left out for whatever shows up.
You don’t need acreage to build a refuge.
You need 40 feet, the right plants, and the choice to leave a little wild.
In Calgary that looks like native species, a naturalized corners, fewer chemicals, more life.
Beautiful and alive aren’t opposites.
The best landscapes are both.

Most people stop pushing before momentum starts.
The Flywheel Effect from Jim Collins’ book ‘Good to Great’ is a powerful reminder that success is rarely one massive breakthrough.
It’s the result of:
• consistent effort
• disciplined habits
• continuous improvement
• showing up every day
• pushing through when results are still invisible
At first, the wheel barely moves.
Then one day, all those small pushes begin to compound.
Momentum builds.
Growth accelerates.
The impossible starts to feel inevitable.
Consistency compounds.
Keep pushing the wheel.
Sometimes things don’t go according to plan.
Yesterday was one of those days.
Nothing like having a full crew, a bunch of equipment, a pool team and a crane on site, only to realize when the pool goes in the hole that you were 4 inches too high.
The difference between people who make it and people that lose their minds is the ability to take a deep breath, figure it out and regroup. 🤯
Our team yesterday did just that and we are cruising today.
Being all-in can be exciting, stressful, and everything in between.
