last week Louise Hay passed away quietly in the middle of the night at the age of 90 on August 30th. Louise Hay was one of the earliest authors in what I call the second generation of self-help teachers and was also the founder of the Hay House Publishing empire which has had a huge impact on the self-help movement. She was an amazing lady who started writing her own material as a result of her life challenges and what she had learned from them (was writing from her personal experience). Prior to her passing she was still creating and still a going-concern. What I wish to acknowledge more than anything tho was that she was a down-to-earth compassionate human being who would take the time to look you in the eye and talk to you....not at you Marla met her in person at a conference and has always said since then that Louise Hay was one the genuine ones who walked her talk. She will be missed.

Last night we showed the movie The Power of The Heart. This is a film about the intelligence of your heart and the power of being heart-centered. The filmmaker, Baptist de Pape, was at the store to talk to us and answer questions. This is a powerful and well-produced movie (directed by Drew Hariot who directed The Secret)....we had laughter and we had some tears. Meeting Baptist was fabulous. It was a great evening.

One of the take-aways from the movie: if you want to know what your purpose in life is, don't ask the universe for what you want; ask the universe what does life want from you. This is a message from Eckhart Tolle who is featured in the movie.

As we approach the change to daylight savings (or are we switching back from daylight savings?), it brings to mind the whole controversy around daylight savings and whether or not it is useful. Coincidentally, the change is at the same time as National Sleep Foundation Sleep Awareness Week (March 6-13). Sleep has become such a big topic that we can justify an awareness week (https://sleepfoundation.org/SAW). No big surprise. Have you ever tried to get into an AHS sleep clinic to be tested for sleep apnea or insomnia? The waiting period is well over a year. I guess there are lots of people who don't sleep well. No big surprise there either.

At Self Connection we know how big a problem sleep is, or rather a lack of it, in our fast-paced world today. We are therefore featuring a workshop on Saturday March 12th called Spotlight on Sleep presented by Chris Carruthers. Chris will present many tips on how to improve your sleep and get a better rest. National Sleep Foundation Sleep Awareness Week

If you are looking for something to be grateful for, look at the picture and be grateful that your morning commute does not look like it does in Beijing (50 lanes of cars!!).

Gratitude is an amazing thing. It makes absolute sense that the more you acknowledge even the littlest gifts in your current life, the easier it will be to create an even more wonderful life. Gratitude creates more to be grateful for. It's as simple as that: the law of attraction at work. In other words, when you stop stressing about what you don't have and focus on how you do have (and...we...have...so...much), it creates good feelngs which tell the universe to send more. And, if yoiu make gratitude a habit, so much can change in your world.

Fundraiser for the immigrants arriving in Calgary.

Approximately 1300 refugees will be arriving in Calgary before the end of February. These people will need things such as clothes, housing, counselling, and English-language training, just to mention a few. Self Connection has decided to help by donating money and has chosen Immigration Services Calgary as the recipient of the funds. We are hosting a fundraising event on Saturday by featuring Lee Carroll (Kryon) who will talk about the shifting energy in the Middle East and what he calls the 'dark army'. Lee will talk and then answer questions from the audience and then will finish with a channeling with Kryon. The event is available both instore as well as online.

ALL revenues from this event will be donated to Immigration Services Calgary. You can help by purchasing a ticket.
