Hannah Davis and her students ran an amazing CE session today at WROTSS 2023.
In this session, Hannah presented the importance of posture in occupational therapy and reviewed different methods to teach postural analysis skills.
She also discussed how to use a high-tech method (i.e. Bodiometer) in clinical practice for reimbursement. We are humbled to be selected as the technology of choice for this hands-on training.

Older age is characterized by several complex health states, such as neurological diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, neck and back pain and osteoarthritis, generally called geriatric syndromes. These geriatric syndromes may lead to improper posture and balance, which are the primary reason for falls among older adults.
Posture, gait and balance evaluation by Bodiometer helps geriatrics to be aware of their current posture and balance. They can track their progress in improving posture and balance during the treatment process and plan appropriately for the next step of training and prevent falls.

Weakness and shortness of stabilizer muscles are primary causes of musculoskeletal disorders.
Abdominal obesity, core body muscles' weakness and lumbar stabilizer muscles' shortness cause instability in the lumbar posture, resulting in hyperlordosis.
Two groups of exercises are suggested for preventing and correcting hyperlordosis:
- Low back stretching exercises
- Abdominal muscle strengthening exercises
Regular postural screening using Bodiometer Home App helps individuals to be aware of their alignment. Bodiometer Pro App also helps trainers and therapists to update their corrective exercise programs based on postural progress resulted from these exercises.

One of the common causes of low back pain is incorrect posture and a variety of musculoskeletal disorders caused by it e.g. hyper lordosis.
Using Bodiometer, people can regularly check their posture and become aware of their biomechanical and functional wellbeing.

Forward head posture can be caused by adopting an incorrect posture for a long time. Depending on its severity, this disorder can cause excessive pressure and pain to the cervical spine.
The forward head posture causes excessive stretching of the front neck muscles and shortening of the back neck muscles.
With STRENGTH training, we can strengthen weak muscles that have been STRETCHED and bring back proper muscle tone and length to them. Also, by using corrective STRETCHING exercises, we can bring back the SHORTENED muscles to their proper size.
During the treatment process by strengthening and stretching corrective exercises, people can analyze their posture using the Bodiometer Home app and share their postural progress with their care provider. In this way, therapists or trainers can see the changes on the Bodiometer Pro Dashboard and adjust their treatment plans accordingly.
