Lieutenant Can. It was vehicle I never should have owned or built to this level, but it was the can I needed when I had nothing else.
Almost a year ago I crashed my Tacoma and needed a daily. I bought the can with no intentions of ever building it. when I found Out my truck was written off I needed a wheeling rig. It started off modest but the parts list quickly grew and LT Can was born. This thing was easily the most capable wheeler I’ve ever driven and I really grew to love it. It’s crazy how these things become a part of who we are.
Today I sold the Can. It was Definitely bitter sweet seeing it go. I’m stoked however that is going to be enjoying this little beast and it will be awesome seeing it out on the trails.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Recently I’ve really been thinking about the perception that people get from the photos I post.
At the surface this looks like a picture of myself and Vinny out enjoying another epic adventure together full of smiles and laughs. Ever notice how he’s never in any picture standing or sitting on his own?
While it was certainly epic and Vinny absolutely loves being in the truck with us, there’s a certain element not shown. That morning around 7:30am Vinny had a seizure. It lasted for about 4 minutes and ended up with him crying for nearly 2 hours. We knew one was coming as he was up all night crying and wasn’t able to sleep. At 6am that morning I got out of the tent just needing some space and not wanting to be yelled at any longer. Once he finally calmed down we gave him his meds that he needs twice a day.
His seizures started 19 months ago but I think he’s been having some form of them since he was born. So far we have been given no real diagnosis on what they think the problem is. The first neurologist who I’ve since fired mumbled something and told us to google it. He also made a point to tell us that he will likely never walk or talk. Those were tough words for Jen to hear as she was alone with me at home on speaker phone due to Covid restrictions .
The 4 different medications we have been on have helped but not stopped his seizures. We noticed a sharp decline in his development as soon as he went on his first med (Trileptal). Since we have taken him off things have slightly improved. He’s finally able to sit on his own although he’s not able to get himself in position.
This week we’re at the children’s hospital undergoing further testing. I had to fight to get this as they told us it’s likely not going to tell us anything since the genetic testing also came back negative for anything. On Monday night they recorded 60-70 seizures in his sleep.
I don’t know what our future holds but what I do know is that I’m going to continue to fight for Vinny so that he can have as much of a normal life as possible. “No” is not an answer I’m going to accept.

So apparently there is a referendum on keeping daylight savings time in Alberta coming up. I’m all for it as I would love to not go home in the dark.
But I keep thinking, could we get a referendum on fall being more than 2 weeks long!?
