The first time John Pattison attempted to enlist he was denied because he was too short. In the course of his adventure the man became a hero and was awarded our Nation’s highest decoration: the Victoria Cross.

Major David Currie was awarded the Victoria Cross for his calm and tenacious leadership during the closing of the Falaise Gap during the Normandy Campaign of the Second World War.

On day two, Pte. Brown faced a massive counterattack. With communication lines cut, he and another runner were sent to warn HQ. Brown was hit by machine gun fire, shattering his arm, and his companion was lost.
