Our Year 8/9 students took part in a meaningful intergenerational learning project focused on listening, empathy, culture, and connection.
Before meeting their senior partners, students explored senior sensitivity, respectful communication, cultural awareness, interview skills, and the importance of working with translators. They collaborated in groups to create thoughtful questions, assign roles, and prepare to learn about the incredible life stories, achievements, values, and experiences of their assigned seniors.
Through three visits to Clover Living, students built relationships through conversations, shared stories, and meaningful moments. With the support of translators, students listened deeply and discovered the unique journeys of their senior partners.
Inspired by these conversations, students created written essays and collaborative art pieces that celebrated each senior’s life story.
During the final visit, students proudly presented their artwork and translated essays, sharing the meaning behind their creations and celebrating the connections they built along the way. The completed artwork and essays were gifted to the seniors as a lasting keepsake of the memories and relationships created throughout this special project.
A beautiful reminder that when generations come together, stories become bridges. ❤️
As proud partners of the Calgary Stampede with our Erickson Centre High School Campus located on Stampede Park, we’re inspired by the unveiling of the Calgary Stampede’s bold 20-year vision, reimagining the grounds into a world-class, year-round destination rooted in western heritage and community.
This forward-thinking plan not only elevates Calgary on the global stage, but strengthens the sense of connection, innovation, and experience that makes our city so special.
We’re honoured to be part of this journey and can’t wait to see this vision come to life!
