The team at Petespicks wanted to take a look at how May is starting off compared to what we saw in April. For detached homes in Calgary the sales volume decline is the same year over year as the decline we saw in April (down 62.66%). The price drop however has accelerated to a drop of 10.42% vs 8.5% in April. This is showing us that the sales that are happening are at a steeper discount than what we saw last month. This is making an already strong buyers market even stronger. We suspect this acceleration in the price drop will not continue into the later part of the month as the economy slowly reopens but we will stay firmly placed in a buyers market for the foreseeable future.
