Goals and objectives are a critical, but often neglected, first step in the data analysis of a seismic survey design. By understanding the client’s expected objectives from the seismic data, we can determine if seismic can achieve these goals, and determine the seismic parameters required to meet those expectations.
Some examples of results from the goals and objective analysis can include:

1. Identifying geological structures that need to be imaged
2. The size of the geological feature needing to be imaged
3. The size of the fault throw that needs to be imaged
4. The resolution required for geosteering
5. Identifying specific lithology types
6. Identifying rock porosity or pore pressure
