Awaken Church

This fall, Awaken Church will begin participating in Hearts Exchanged, a learning journey created by the The Canadian Reformed Churches in partnership with Indigenous leaders and communities.

Beginning October 4 at 4PM, and continuing on the first Sunday of each month for 8 months, we will gather to listen, learn, reflect, and grow as we seek to become better treaty people and more faithful neighbours. This sacred learning will take the place of our usual Sunday Worship format.

Hearts Exchanged is not a program about guilt, nor is it a course designed to provide easy answers. It is an invitation to truth-telling. Together we will explore the history and ongoing realities of Indigenous peoples in Canada, the legacy of residential schools and colonization, the meaning of treaty relationships, and the responsibilities we share in the work of reconciliation.

In following the Jesus Way, we believe that reconciliation is more than an idea. It is a practice. It calls us to listen deeply, to confront difficult truths with humility, and to imagine new ways of living together rooted in justice, respect, and right relationship.

We are grateful to begin this journey together. We know that reconciliation is not a destination we arrive at, but a relationship we nurture.
