She has a bachelor of Music Education from the U of C and an ARCT in piano, voice and speech arts. She also was a music and drama teacher with the Catholic School Board for 10 years until having her family and wanting to pursue opening up a music studio became her passion. The studio is well versed with all kinds of method books and music resources. Thus, when new students join us from another tea
cher/studio we like to work with whatever our students are most familiar or comfortable with. We like to use a variety of music and give our students much choice in what they are learning. This way they can are able to feel good about what they are learning and playing. During the music season our students are able to participate in various opportunities which allow them to share their talents and gain the much needed practice of performing for an audience. Such opportunities include performing at the Calgary Performing Arts Festival (formally known as the Calgary Kiwanis Festival), performing at local businesses and nursing homes in and around the community. These are performances are optional (not mandatory) and teachers always discuss them first with parents and their students beforehand. In addition the studio has two concerts during the season. Our Christmas concert which is usually held during the second week of December and our annual Spring Concert and student celebration where we like to honor all our students with medals and small awards for their amazing hard work and dedication throughout the year.
