Nita Designs is a one-person small business, built on a passion for creating unique designs—especially poppies.

In recent years, I’ve experienced the loss of loved ones, and in my culture, these times of mourning meant cutting our hair and setting aside the things we love for a year. Yet through grief, my passion to honor our troops, our veterans, and those we’ve lost has carried me forward.

Although my Etsy shop has been paused for the last couple of years, I have never stopped creating poppies, as many of you have seen around this time each year. While I haven’t been able to make as many as in previous years, my dedication has never faded.

I plan to relaunch my Etsy shop in 2026. In the meantime, and throughout the year, my poppies can be found at the Military Museums in Calgary. To recognize the challenges many are facing in today’s economy, the museum is offering exclusive, more affordable pricing. If the poppy you’re looking for is unavailable, you can let the staff know, and they’ll contact me when stock runs out. You don’t need to pay admission to visit the gift shop (though I encourage you to explore and support this incredible museum when you can).

My beadwork is done with care, experience, and deep respect for what these poppies symbolize. I am profoundly grateful for your ongoing love and support through the years. It is because of you that I am able to continue sharing these creations, and I look forward to bringing you new and meaningful designs in the coming year.

I may have put down beading needle for the time being (I am honoring custom orders that were requested before my Grandfathers passing), but I may have some new things around the corner.
