Andrea Hill has had the honour of singing on many of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Metropolitan Opera (New York); Teatro alla Scala (Milan); L’Opéra National de Paris (France); Royal Opera House Covent Garden (London); the Liceu (Barcelona); and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (France). She has performed many and varied roles, including Carmen (Carmen - Bizet); Varvara (Kat’a Kabanova - Janacek); Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia - Rossini); and Judith (Bluebeard’s Castle - Bartok). She had the privilege of being an original cast member of Patrice Chereau’s final production, just months before he died: Strauss’ Elektra. She was selected by Kurt Masur to sing Octavian in a concert of excerpts from Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, and also by Esa-Pekka Salonen to sing multiple roles with the Philharmonia Orchestra in London in a semi-staged production of Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges. An avid concert and recital singer, she has given recitals at many festivals, including the Ultima Festival in Oslo, Norway, and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in southern France. Andrea made the switch to soprano in the last few years.
