The Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) is offering a grant workshop focused on Individual Project Grants, led by Jodie Vandekerkhove (Dance Consultant), and Nick Haywood (Film and Video Consultant).
Date and Time: Saturday, July 25 from 1:00–3:00 pm
Location: AFA art house, 150 9 Ave SW, 2nd Floor, Calgary, AB
With the next application deadline on September 1, 2026, the AFA will host a free in-person workshop to support applicants.
Please note that this funding opportunity is available to independent artists and collectives only; incorporated companies are not eligible to apply.
AFA Individual Project Grants provide up to $18,000 to support Alberta artists, arts administrators, or ensembles. Funding can be used to support:
Development of a specific artistic work
Training opportunities
Research activities
Marketing initiatives
Jodie and Nick will share practical tips and guidance to help strengthen applications and improve chances of success.

Recognizing their shared band members and complementary missions, the Calgary Stetson Show Band and the Calgary Round-Up Band embarked on a focused planning and alignment initiative to strengthen governance, improve operational efficiency, and support long-term sustainability.
While remaining separate charitable organizations, the two bands have adopted a shared strategic framework, common KPIs, and coordinated scheduling and communication practices to streamline operations and enhance the overall member experience.
This initiative was supported through Future Focus Funding. The Future Focus Program is a funding collaboration between Calgary Arts Development , the Rozsa Foundation, and the Calgary Foundation . We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, who provided additional funds to support the program in 2026.
