Molly Fi has spent the better part of two decades breaking down the walls for fellow women and non-binary DJs and performers. In 2003 Thibodeau founded Girls on Decks, a collective that’s unified DJs, FeMC’s, and dancers to become an important and influential movement in Western Canada. Still operational to this day, the collective has served as the launching point for the music careers of hundred
s of women and developed new spaces for the LGBT community with its inclusive events. A three-time nominee for Best Of Calgary’s best DJ category, Thibodeau is also a notable DJ in her own right, bringing her signature blend of infectious and dance-inducing breaks to stages alongside artists like Slynk, The Funk Hunter, Neon Steve, and Smalltown DJs. An alumnus of 2019’s Fractal Forest lineup at Shambhala Music Festival, her entry in the festival’s mix series caught the attention of DJ Mag, who featured Molly Fi in its list of 12 emerging artists to watch. Past festival appearances also include Fozzyfest, MEMETIC, AEMCON, Vibrant Music Festival, Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge and Vancouver Pride, Peak A Boom, and the Calgary Burlesque Festival. A natural entrepreneur in spirit, 2019 also saw the launch of Boombox Boutique, a luxury corporate DJ service created alongside longtime Girls on Decks collaborator Jamie Jams. Together they’ve supplied corporate functions around the city with unforgettable soundtracks and consultation in both technical and creative areas. Thibodeau currently works as a mentor and educator for the Children’s Legacy Foundation and Beat Drop, teaching youth and aspiring artists about DJing, music business and event organization. Molly Fi is a certified A-list performer, social motivator, and community building icon who continues to stand the test of time in the arena of electronic breaks. .
