In this short interview, LUTW Co-Founder Ken Robertson reflects on the early days of Light Up The World, how he met Dave Irvine-Halliday, and the journey that helped shape the organization we know today.
Nearly 30 years later, LUTW has brought solar energy, internet access, education, and opportunity to communities around the world. This interview takes us back to where that journey began.

Over the past few weeks, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) students and staff, and our LUTW team travelled to Pedregal, Peru, where they worked alongside the community to help bring solar energy and internet access to the local school.
But the most memorable moments often happen beyond the installation.
They enjoyed delicious Peruvian food, learned about local traditions, joined community celebrations, danced, played games with the children, and experienced the warmth and hospitality that make these communities so special.
There were plenty of smiles, hugs, laughter, and moments of connection that will stay with our volunteers long after they return home.
Of course, there was also plenty of hands-on work.. wiring, testing, installing equipment, and working together to create something that will benefit students and families for years to come. ⚡📡
Thank you to our incredible SAIT students, volunteers, international partners, community partners, and the people of Pedregal for making this journey so meaningful.
