Written From My Heart
While we
were
sleeping,
closed
our eyes,
dreaming,
darkness
fell, and
sin
crept
in.
We had
turned
out the
Light
within,
the Word,
beginning
to end,
too many
passages
knocking,
locked,
outside
the door.
Lullaby,
lulling,
letting us
stay
sleeping,
keeping
silent,
slumbering,
Our comfort
quilted,
cuddled up
beside us.
What’s the
reason
to be
awakened?
Why
are You
shaking
us to rise?
Is it
really
morning
time?
Did the
time
really fly?
Don’t want
to open
our eyes.
Don’t want
to realize,
the lullaby
of lies
kept us
lying here
too long,
alarm is
ringing,
clock
ticking,
the time
is gone
for us
to walk
the walk
in You,
standing
for truth,
giving
ourselves,
our lives
back
to You
in gratitude.
You died
for us.
Paid the
price.
Changed
our lives.
Sent us out.
But while
we were
sleeping,
we were not
keeping
watch,
and we got
caught
sleeping in.

The power of the pen holds many things.
It puts us all on an equal playing field, to express, to engage, to defend and to comfort.
Whether with an audience of one or thousands, holding the pen, writing with the passion behind it, gives a freedom not found in many other places.
Whether written in your private journal, the bestselling book, a trendy magazine or on a social media platform, it matters.
It can make a difference.
The power of the pen is an instrument of release, of ease of pain or of fountain of laughter.
It is fact or fiction, deepest innermost thoughts or frivolous frolic, poking fun or challenging the system.
In times of chaos in countries, in culture, in explosive climate, in quiet covidish isolation, in war or peace, the power of the pen has always existed as a certain rescue when no rescue-be found.
So if you’re listening to voices that shout out, ‘be quiet’ or the subtle reasoning ‘better to be seen but not heard’, ‘don’t judge’, ‘don’t speak’, ‘don’t cause a stir’, just refill the inkwell for your dried up pen, do a little dip of the tip and begin again.
The power of the pen is always within the grasp of your hand.

Open up
Your promises,
sky-wide,
let them
rain down
from above.
Replace
the tears,
the ashes,
the broken years,
the crashed dreams,
with Your
everlasting love.
In the land
that I’m living,
keep giving
the plans,
the future,
the hope
You have for
my family,
keep bringing
us back to
Your heart,
the fresh start
You are
always
making.
Open up
Your promises,
sky-wide,
let them
rain down
from above.

Don’t swallow
that lump,
let it out,
let it go.
When sobs
wrap you up,
shake it out,
fast or slow.
Tears should flow.
Crying not slow,
‘til the time is up,
you’ll know,
you’ll know.
The release
brings a peace,
when He
comes close,
your tears
a prayer
drawing
Him near.
Tears,
collect
in a bottle,
tears wash
out the pain,
tears trade a
sorrow that
tomorrow
softer rains.
When your
heart feels
so broken,
He knows,
He knows.
