Today is Blue Monday- often referred to as one of the most depressing days of the year. For many individuals, this sadness can be the result of a combination of post-holiday debt, reduced sunlight with winter weather, or failed New Year's resolutions. At Xpan, creating environments where people can learn and grow starts with supporting their well-being.
If you're struggling today, here are some helpful mental health tips to make Blue Monday a little less blue:
1. Focus on self-care. Do something nice for yourself- maybe this looks like buying your favourite lunch or having a hot bath.
2. Exercise. The natural release of dopamine from exercise will help lift your spirits.
3. Connect with loved ones. Spending time with those you love can remind you what really matters in life.
4. Manage work stress by tackling easy tasks first. Be gentle with yourself if you're unable to get as much done today as you usually do.
5. Relax your mind and body. Mindfulness through meditation can help reduce stress and anxiety.
