Students in Grades 5–9 put their note-taking and procedural writing skills to work this week through a delicious cross-curricular learning experience!

After watching an instructional baking video from Sonya's Prep, students carefully recorded detailed notes, including ingredients, quantities, and step-by-step directions for making chocolate chip cookies. They then collaborated to compile their notes into a complete recipe and create a shopping list.

Next week, students will put their writing to the test by baking the cookies themselves and evaluating how well their procedures translate into a successful final product. This hands-on activity helps students develop essential literacy skills while applying critical thinking, organization, and real-world problem-solving.

Learning truly comes to life when students can see the results of their work!
