When wildfire smoke fills the air outside, our homes matter more than ever.

Across Canada, smoke is becoming a more frequent part of life, and most of our buildings aren’t designed to handle it.

is a reminder that our homes play a critical role in protecting our health. Better insulation, ventilation, filtration and cooling can help keep indoor air safer, especially when outdoor air quality deteriorates.

As the climate changes, our homes become one of our first lines of defence.

For many people, home upgrades don’t just mean improvements — they mean noise, disruption, and even having to leave home temporarily.

Prefabricated retrofits may offer a different approach. By doing much of the work off-site, upgrades can happen faster and with less disruption to daily life, so people can stay in their homes while buildings improve.
