Cross-Border Assistance

Mother’s Day looks different for a lot of the women we work with.
They are not just raising families.
They are making decisions that shape where their families will live, work, and grow.
We see women navigating complex immigration systems while building careers, running businesses, and creating stability for the people around them.
And often, they are doing it quietly.
Without recognition.
Without margin for error.
Because immigration is not just paperwork.
It is about opportunity.
It is about access.
It is about creating something better, not just for today, but for the next generation.
Today we recognize the women who are doing all of that, at the same time.
Happy Mother’s Day from Ackah Business Immigration Law.

For companies operating across borders, immigration directly impacts timelines, revenue, client commitments and brand credibility. Whether you are hiring foreign talent, transferring key staff to Canada or expanding into new markets, compliance cannot be an afterthought.
When immigration is reactive, risk and disruption follow. When it is built into your business strategy from the start, it becomes a predictable system that supports growth and protects your momentum.

We wish this were an April 1st joke. But it’s not.
One of the most common immigration mistakes we see is people applying for the wrong U.S. visa and only finding out at the border.
It happens more often than you’d think, across founders, tech professionals and cross-border teams. The result is the same. Delays, refusals or months spent fixing something that could have been avoided.
The most common confusion is between the TN visa and the L-1 visa.
The TN visa is for specific professional roles. It depends on your degree and whether your job fits within an approved list.
The L-1 visa is for intercompany transfers. You must already work for a related company outside the U.S. and be transferring as an executive, manager or specialized knowledge employee.
They are not interchangeable.
If you are building across borders, make sure your visa strategy is set up properly from day one.
