MA (History of Science, Technology, and Medicine), University of British Columbia, 2012
Katie came from a family of teachers, but she really learned the art of the profession from her life long experience as a student. This perspective gives her a unique advantage in structuring classes that best suited to students' minds. At the University of Toronto, where Katie received her first bachelor degree, she found delight in the wondrous world of life sciences, taking courses in the areas of human biology and biochemistry. After graduation, Katie decided to pursue another bachelor degree at the University of British Columbia. This time, her focus was the history of Germany, Eastern Europe, and the Soviet Union. During her time as a history student, Katie discovered a field of the discipline that is the history of science, technology, and medicine. Excited by the prospect of brining together both specializations of her background, she decided to work on a graduate degree once her program was complete.
