SFU Political Science

The Clean Energy Research Group (CERG) will be hosting its upcoming event, 'Washington State's Clean and Just Energy Transition?' on Friday, November 21, from 1 PM - 2 PM at AQ 5030, SFU Burnaby.

Our guest speaker, Dr. Troy D. Abel, is an award-winning author, teacher, and Professor of Environmental Policy in the Department of Urban and Environmental Planning and affiliate faculty member of Political Science at Western Washington University. He also is an affiliate faculty member of Seattle University's Center for Environmental Justice and Sustainability.

Dr. Abel will present an initial framework for discussion in this presentation.

Anik Ahmed graduated with M.A. in political science from SFU in the year 2023 and is also a recipient of the 2021 Graduate Fellowship award. 🏆

He currently works as a Policy Analyst with the Department of Health and Social Services for the Government of Yukon

Coming from a background in public administration and banking, Ahmed was curious to learn how political science connects to real-world policy decisions. 🌎

Elaborating on his academic experience, he found that the program challenged and inspired him to expand his critical thinking about politics and public policy. “The vibrant academic environment deepened my understanding of political science and helped me connect theory to real-world policy challenges. The faculty were inspiring, and the coursework was intellectually engaging. My time at SFU played a crucial role in preparing me for my present role as a policy analyst, equipping me with the analytical tools and broader perspectives I rely on every day.”
