IDMC Studio

I used to see designers only pull out their phones on install day or at a photoshoot. Those were the moments that felt “okay” to show on Instagram.
And for a long time…that was the norm.
But things have shifted. Content feels a lot more real now, and honestly, I love that for all of us. It’s not just the big reveal anymore — it’s what’s happening along the way.
The part I hear all the time now is… what do I actually film? I know you’re not standing around thinking about content, you’re working. You’re in it. Making decisions, moving things around, figuring things out. Filming doesn’t always cross your mind, or you’re not sure if it’s even worth capturing.
So think of this as your cheat sheet. Not for more content, just so you’re not overthinking it and it starts to feel second nature.
People are checking Instagram to see what’s happening, and when you start sharing those real-time moments, your work just feels more real.
So next time you’re at the studio or out and about, start here. A few clips is usually more than enough.
Save this for later or send it to someone on your team who’s always asking what to film.
The Living Luxe Design Show did not disappoint 🥂
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, not even just with Instagram… just in general. How easy it is to take something that’s actually pretty straightforward and turn it into something that feels way bigger than it needs to be.
I see it all the time, especially with designers. They have the work, it’s beautiful, it already says a lot… but then it turns into how do I use it, what should I say, is this good enough… and it just sits there. Their camera roll is basically a gold mine for content… they just don’t use it. 🙂
And the funny thing is, most of the time the content is already there.
It’s in the in-between moments. The quick clips you almost don’t think to take. Walking into a space, setting something down, a small detail you noticed.
That’s usually what starts to make creating content feel easier.
You’re not trying to come up with something… you’re just paying attention to what’s already happening.
And when it clicks, it feels a lot lighter. Like you’re not forcing it anymore, you’re just capturing it as you go.
So let this be your reminder to film the small moments because that’s the content.
If you’ve ever posted a project and felt like it should have landed better, try this 👇🏼
But first, save this so you remember it next time you’re writing a caption.
If we haven’t met… hey, I’m Wendy. I help interior designers turn their Instagram into something that actually brings in the right clients.
Most designers don’t need better photos, they need a better way to talk about what they’re already sharing.
Try this with your next post ⬇️
Instead of describing the space, tell the client story
what they wanted
what wasn’t working
what they were hoping for
It gives people something to connect to right away. Now it’s not just a kitchen or living room, it’s a situation they can see themselves in.
This is usually the shift between “that looks nice” and “this feels like the right fit.”
There are two other ways to approach the exact same photo that land just as well. Same photo, completely different impact.
