During my university years, we didn’t just PLAY with art materials & had fun I think it was mostly disappointment and heart aches. Creating something you were genuinely proud of felt like a once in a blue moon miracle. What we really did was study, relentlessly. We spent half a decade immersed in Art History to Contemporary Art, moving from West to East, from ancient cave paintings to contemporary works like The Comedian. It was an ocean of books, articles, journals, and research (hay naku, kung alam niyo lang talaga plus madami pang mga satsat ibang tao sa napili mong career).

We learned every tool we touched, every medium we handled, and especially the proper management, safety, and discipline behind them. That’s why being a Fine Artist shapes you into an extraordinary kind of person.

First, when we walk into an art gallery, we don’t need a paragraph to understand an artwork. Artists carry a million thoughts at once, emotions, histories, and perspectives already forming their own interpretations.

Second, we don’t create just for the money. What we want is to translate what lives in our minds into something tangible, something that makes people feel. We create to discover, to learn, to process, and to express. Art is not just a product, it’s a journey, a dialogue, a way of thinking.

And that’s what makes the life of an artist both difficult and deeply meaningful. And I used to feel icky about what my professor once told me that being a fine artist is different from simply being an artist. But now, after everything I’ve learned and lived through, it finally makes sense…

Pero buti na lang talaga na-experience ko ang art school. Nagkalaman utak ko at di ignorante at arogante.

Life has been a little full lately, and I haven’t had much time to sit down and create. But I’m grateful! I just started a summer job here in Brandon, and it’s such a huge help (financially) as I prepare for grad school. Thank you so much, ate Katrina, for opening that door for me ❤️

I’m hoping to get back into painting soon, especially with some exciting art‑related news coming to downtown Brandon. I’m really grateful to be part of it 🎨❤️

When I arrived here as a first‑gen immigrant, I carried more uncertainty than belongings. The road to a Master’s degree felt out of reach- no honours program, no thesis, no financial help.
But God’s Grace met me where fear lived, and my art community held me up when I doubted myself ❤️

I’ve been waiting to say this, I’ve been accepted into an MFA program in Canada!! My heart is full of gratitude for everyone who walked this journey with me!
