Like our friends at Kawartha Conservation, our goal isn't to prevent responsible development projects. It's to help reduce future risks and protect the safety of our community members and their properties.

Let's all work towards creating a sustainable ecosystem where people and nature live in harmony.

Floodplains and wetlands play a bigger role than many people realize.

They help:

• Store water during storms
• Reduce flooding
• Slow erosion
• Protect downstream properties
• Support healthy lakes and rivers

That’s part of why some projects near wetlands, rivers, shorelines, and low-lying areas may require permits before work begins.

The goal is not to prevent responsible projects.

It’s to help reduce future risks for people, property, and communities.
