I believe that Belize is a shining star of how fast a young nation can grow and prosper. So young and so diverse and rich she is spoken about around the world. Our natural heritages, the maya ruins, the tropical jungles, the beautiful mountain peaks, and her gorgeousl coastal waters. However Belize is also a shameful example of how quickly a shining star can be completely snuffed out when greedy m
en take the reins. How evil can find a stronghold in the hearts of the citizens of a country, when evil is encouraged condoned and supported by their leaders. Belize has become the land where, the poor man is left job less, fathers and mothers can only grieve the deaths of their innocent sons and daughters, where public servants are expected to and are given the right to steal and take from the very people they were set in place to to protect. A land where a police officer causes more fear than justice. A land where murderers walk free and the innocent pay for it all
. But I believe in a better Belize, because I believe in the people of Belize. But I believe in a better today. Now is the time when we need to stand up as a people and say we have had enough. We must demand today be the tomorrow we have so longed for. A tomorrow where a person can live out their dreams without fear of having that dream robbed and destroyed! Where parents can send their children to school with their lunch boxes filled with food. Where a child can play without fear. A Belize where the grass will be greener, where in hard times public servants would do their best to support and rebuild dreams! Where a police officer is seen as a symbol of justice, and the government is viewed as a blessing.
